Nifty late-night lounge-restaurant-thing, open til 2am Fridays and Saturdays. They mainly have sushi and japanese food and cocktails. The sushi isn't very good at all, tastes like an American tried to copy actual sushi and failed. The cocktails, however, are very tasty - I had one which was shochu with plum wine, and another one which was blackberry puree with vodka and lemon and lime juices. (And the water comes with a slice of cucumber! So adorable! And adds a lovely flavor.) Would visit again if going out for drinks with friends, but would probably gripe about the sushi in the process.

An amusing bonus: live DJ! And by DJ I do not mean someone who merely queues up music - rather, they have some guy in the corner spinning records, mixing, and operating a drum machine. As far as I can tell.

Two reactions to this restaurant:

1) It's awesome that Portland has a vegan brunch/lunch place.
2) I am so glad I am not vegan.

I had the breakfast buffet. The biscuits and gravy were tasty, if an abomination. The fakemeat sausage was so-so - decent as far as fakemeat goes, but the spicing was off. Potatoes were good but dry. Tofu scramble was horrible and made me long for proper eggs. Fruit salad was tasty and very fresh - the highlight of the meal.

From two articles earlier in the week:

BBC World News:
Leaders of the Episcopal Church in the US have agreed to halt the consecration of gay priests as bishops to prevent a split in the Anglican Communion.

CBC World News:
Episcopal leaders, pressured to roll back their support for gays to keep the world Anglican family from crumbling, affirmed Tuesday that they will "exercise restraint" in approving another gay bishop and will not approve prayers to bless same-sex couples.

And from a NY Times article today covering new announcements from the conservative Episcopal groups:

New York Times:
Earlier in the week in New Orleans, the bishops of the Episcopal Church defied a directive by leaders of the Anglican Communion asking them to set up an alternate structure for conservative churches, to stop consecrating openly gay and lesbian bishops and to ban the blessing of same-sex unions.
