Shrink me down
Jul. 8th, 2005 12:46 amSo, tonight I had dinner with ninety-hojillion people, all of them associated with Juli in some way. The one exception, I guess, was my coworker friend Henry, who I invited at the last minute but seemed to fit the group dynamic after a while.
There were people I knew, and people I'd forgotten I knew, and plenty of internet celebrities, and so forth. There were plenty of random social linkages, of course - with this group especially it seems like everybody knows everybody else through at most 3 degrees of freedom.
I was thinking today that I don't really feel surprised any more when the "small world" effect strikes. But I am still amazed and amused by it on some level, and I'm just grateful for knowing so many neat people.
