Jan. 10th, 2005 05:46 pmWhile I'm sitting here at work waiting for my compile to finish I thought I'd recap a few highlights as of late:
Sushi Party
I had a lot of fun at my Aunt Rebecca's sushi-making party. Also in attendance were the rest of Rebecca's family (including my cousin Beth, who is still on winter break from university), her friend Joy's family (who I had met at Thanksgiving), and another family that was new to me. Just like at Thanksgiving, Beth and I gravitated away from the adults and hung out with the kids instead -- chatting and playing video games and poker and speedy scrabble. My cousin Noah apparently got the new model of the hard disk iRiver for Christmas; it is identical to mine but has a color screen and photo viewing capabilities.
The food itself was pretty good. I am somewhat embarassed to admit that I had never made my own sushi even after spending a year on Oahu. Next time Rebecca throws a sushi party, though, I am definitely going to ask Jen for a spam musubi recipe :-)
Church
The people at my church have become aggressively friendly now that they see that I'm not just a one-time guest. I must have spoken to a half-dozen people after church service. Most interesting was when I found out that Donald Knuth is a member of my church (although he's on vacation and won't be back for another month or two).
Teeth
Let me offer you some advice: Floss regularly. I didn't, and now I'm in the process of getting two crowns. One is in place already, and I'm getting a temporary for the second crown in two weeks.
