The farther you go, the closer you are

Berkeley is like an idealized version of all the places I remember from my childhood, and I'm staying in a beautiful room in a bustling household with hyperactive young children. I was invited to the dinner table, and afterwards I helped clear the table and with the dishes. The air is crisp and cool and smells of conifers.
At least I still have the mountains, and the ocean, to remind me of just how far I've come.
