A summation of calm, logical things with which OCD can be thwarted. Highly personal, nothing to worry about here folks. Just documenting the process, to keep myself honest:
I was previously medicated for OCD, for 9 years. During those 9 years, bad things did not happen. Anything that happened, happened. Anything that happens, happens. Life happened, bad things as interpreted by my OCD did not.
OCD is like the religious oppression of old -- it counters calm, logical responses with irrational fears and threats. It is its defense mechanism. Just as the priests of old threatened hellfire and brimstone in response to logic, so too does OCD. But ultimately, calmness must prevail. In this, "9 years" is my mantra.
OCD is not demons in the brain. It's not like they flee at the sight of pills. The only demons are the ones we bring with us; the fears they present must be fought in the same manner as all fears, with plenty of facts, logic, and experience.
...unless, of course, the Scientologists are right. If so, then yeah -- it's demons in the brain. Get an axe.
